Oscil Twins

Oscil Twins is an audio-visual instrument that utilizes the CRT screen of an oscilloscope as its display. The output signal generated by the device moves the electric beam within the oscilloscope, creating intricate and dynamic patterns. By routing the same signal into a sound system, we can hear tones that correspond to the visual imagery, creating a unique interplay between sound and seeing.

Part of algorithms are inspired by Mitchell Waite’s Oscilloscope Graphic Artist, published in Popular Electronics in 1975, Oscil Twins translates the OGA circuit into software and reimagines this concept as an live instrument by integrating custom-developed sound patches in Pure Data and Linux system running on Raspberry Pi to generate signal in real-time react to human controlled interface.
