the black sea

Sky Kung is a Hong Kong-based media artist working with hardware electronics, physical computing, sound design, and performance. He designs instruments through a process of exploratory and iterative creation. By exploring neglected media technologies and open-source materials, his work offers an alternative perspective that escapes the notion of linear technological progress that shapes our relationship with technology.

He earned a BA from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong (2020). In his solo project, the black sea, he explores ambient music using tape loops, soundscapes, and drone experiments. As a guitarist in the band Lucid Express, he creates dreamlike textures with effect pedals.

Sky Kung是一位香港的媒體藝術家，專注於電子與編程、聲音設計及現場表演。他透過探索性與迭代性的創作過程來設計樂器。藉由發掘被忽略的媒體技術與開源材料，他的作品提供另一種視角，以擺脫那種形塑我們與科技的線性觀念。

他於香港城市大學創意媒體學院獲得學士學位(2020)。在個人聲音項目「the black sea」中，他運用磁帶循環、聲音景觀與持續長音實驗探索環境音樂。作為樂隊「Lucid Express」的結他手，他喜歡運用效果器效果器營造夢幻音色。
